The Development of the Plant-Based Meat (Alternative Meat) Industry and Production Technologies
On April 20 this year, KFC officially announced the public beta test of its “Plant-Based Golden Chicken Nuggets” in China, with the raw materials being the “plant-based meat” that has gained immense popularity over the past two years. Two days later, on April 22, Starbucks launched its “Star Good Food” plant-based meat lunch menu in China, featuring plant-based beef and plant-based pork as its star ingredients. Back in November 2019, OmniPork, a Canadian plant-based meat brand, made its debut on Tmall’s shelves, offering plant-based pork and plant-based chicken products. Almost simultaneously, STARFIELD, a domestic plant-based meat company, teamed up with the bubble tea brand Nayuki to introduce a series of plant-based meat burgers, joining forces with the chain restaurant “Bao! John.”
